One of the most popular Curaçao beaches among cruise passengers is without a doubt Mambo Beach. This tourist attraction is located near the cruise port in Willemstad and offers everything you need for a relaxed day at the beach.
The best way to get to Mambo Beach from the cruise ship is by car. You have the option the rent a car, get a taxi or you can also book a shore excursion that includes a visit to Mambo Beach.
How to get to Mambo Beach from the cruise port?
Most people choose to visit Mambo Beach during a shore excursion or a beach transfer. It’s an easy way to get from A to B, combining several sights and getting to know the island.
A different option is visiting Mambo Beach by taxi. The taxi rank is directly at the entrance of the cruise terminal. It is a fast and efficient way for cruisers to get to Mambo Beach.
However, due to the increased crowd when cruise ships dock, taxis may not consistently be accessible. Therefore, I suggest pre-booking a shore excursion to Mambo Beach in advance.
How Far is Mambo Beach from the cruise port?
Mambo Beach is not that far away from where the ships dock. It’s about a 15-minute drive from the cruise port in Otrobanda to the entrance of the beach. We are talking about a distance of 7 kilometers or 4.3 miles. The ride is over before you know it. Just relax and enjoy the Curaçao environment. The view from the large Julianabrug over the city is a plus!
Directions to Mambo Beach
As mentioned above, you must drive over the Juliana Bridge to get to Mambo Beach. You will see what is so special about this bridge with your eyes
From the cruise port, you will follow the Arubastraat to drive over the Koninging Juliana Bridge. After the bridge, you drive straight on the Schottegatweg Zuid until you arrive at the traffic light in Saliña. Turn right and take the second exit at the roundabout.
You are now driving on the Nieuwe Caracasbaaiweg. Immediately take the first exit to the right and continue on the Dr. P.W. Maalweg. At the end of this street, turn left. From here it is a 5-minute drive straight ahead until you arrive at Mambo Beach.
Can you walk from the cruise ship to Mambo beach?
It is not recommended to walk to the beach from the cruise ship. Although it is only an hour’s walk, the infrastructure is not ideal for pedestrians. In addition, it is simply too hot in Curaçao to walk such a distance. You get dehydrated easily and this has immediate consequences for your health.

You also have the option of selecting a direct beach transfer to Mambo Beach. This transfer provides a non-stop ride straight to the beach, with a return pick-up in the afternoon.
As a first-time visitor, I would recommend the beach transfer over a taxi because it ensures a journey to Mambo Beach, sparing you the concern of securing a taxi for the return trip to the cruise port.
